Zoey Farr

 Using  spray paint and yarn that is an homage to human presence, Zoey Farr creates expressionistic wildlife paintings that reveal points where nature and people mix to describe personal experiences she's had within wild spaces, experiences that have taught her new lessons, amazed her, and filled her with peace. Growing up in Northern California near the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Farr has been exposed to wilderness and the need to protect and preserve these important spaces from climate change and human interruption. Humanity, through Farr’s mark-making is interspersed with abstract textures to evoke the spirit of wild spaces and the importance of ecology. Color is used to reveal the intrinsic value of other than human creatures in her work. 

Using a variety of media, from spray paint to charcoal to oil paint, Farr creates abstract imagery inspired by our relationship with nature. The sensory aspect of interacting with the world around us is highlighted in the variety of textures, mediums, and application of paint.
